Thrush Forest Rock (Monticola sharpei) male & pulli in nest – endemic – Madagascar
Full SizeHaving spotted the bird with a worm I waited and watched. My patience was rewarded when it revealed a nest on the bank of the highway with two pulli anxious for more food.
Note this species is in the Muscicapidae family under Chats rather than Thrushes. The Forest Rock Thrush differs from the Littoral Rock Thrush by having darker grey (blueish) upper parts and darker orange underparts. The Forrest Rock Thrush is found in the east whereas the Littoral that is only recorded around the south west coastal tip of Madagascar.
