Snipe Greater Painted (Rostratula benghalensis) male – Kruger South Africa

We had spotted this species in The Gambia but it is quite a skulker.  This photo was taken by Samantha (Bromfield) Hewlett a guest photographer to WBP and family friend living in South Africa.  Her father David is my bird guru; see LINKS on this web site.  In Oct16 one was spotted in Madagascar and in Dec16 a female at Cape Town RSA.
