Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) flying into the sunset – Uganda

We were taken in small boats in shallow water through papyrus and over 100 metres away our first sighting of the Shoebill.  We stopped and watched, after some time the bird started to come closer and close to us, it then crouched down and leapt up and few off most gracefully.  Such an exciting experience being in the presence of this very rare and special bird.
