Parrot Grey (Psittacus erithacus) vagrant – Copperbelt Prov. Zambia

These formerly named ‘African Grey’ parrots are great talkers and highly sought after.  In the 1960s I recall seeing sellers from the ‘Belgium Congo’ hawking these high value birds around Kitwe.  This poor picture is probably of escapees as it was taken around  the Itimpe residential small holdings just outside Kitwe so are considered as vagrants as they are normally seen north west central Africa.
