Parrot Grey (Psittacus erithacus) – Uganda

Formerly known as the African Grey Parrot.  A highly valued parrot that is sought for its excellent speaking ability.  My pal, since age of 6, David Bromfield’s mother had an African Grey (Max) for over 50 years that was handed to another custodian after ‘The Old Lady’ passed away.  Eileen Bromfield was very knowledgeable of birds who encouraged us kids in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) to study birds.  She also had an aviary of wild rescued birds; one day in the 1960s the Northern News reported a couple weird chickens in a Kitwe market. They were young Sacred Ibis that she rescued and subsequently reared them to adult hood.
