Oystercatcher African (Haematopus moquini) adult on two eggs – Cape West South Africa

Taken at 18:05 on 16th January 2016.  The incubation period varies between 27 and 39 days and the young take a further 38 or so days to fledge.  The South Easter wind was very strong but this dedicated parent protected its eggs despite being ‘sand blasted’.  It is now 10 days after the first picture of the Oystercatcher was discovered on two eggs.  I will make frequent visits and hope to see the eggs hatch and the pulli fledge.
