This was an expedition of a lifetime. Having toured the Arctic and Antarctic we then ventured on the Northwest Passage and can now discard our severe winter apparel! It was well managed, the Hanseatic Inspiration vessel was fit for purpose and well managed.  Most days we were able to visit islands, some inhabited many barren but those required a protection party in case the Polar Bears fancied a tourist as a crudite.

My intention was to photograph all birds seen at sea and on the several islands we visited.  After entering the Arctic Circle the bird population diminished considerably.  Shore birds were few and far between at this time of the year and also there were very few areas for waders.
