During August 2026 we toured Vietnam and Cambodia, a major element was cruising from Saigon north on the massive Mekong River.  I had hoped to see many birds along the river but apart from some Swifts, a few common sparrows, the occasional raptor it was rather disappointing. We learned that anything live is eaten so perhaps for the horrific “proxy cold war” from 1955 to 1975 birds were also victims of the conflict?
