Full SizeOne can only visit Aride Island by boat but not landing as they collect you with their dingy from your boat so that the island remains free of rats and cats. Aride Island is a special place with many species that are quite tame as they are not threatened due to the absence of any predators We were given a comprehensive 2.5 hour tour of the fauna and birds by Juan Michel. The volunteers living on the island are making an amazing contribution to the World.
The Seychelles Magpie-Robin was brought back from extinction from only 8 pairs and now thrives on the island as it is safe from any predator.
