Greenland is the largest island in the world lying in the North Atlantic Ocean  and is noted for its vast tundra and huge glaciers that we saw as well as massive iceberg near Uummannaq and Disco Bay.

We arrived at West Greenland. The perfectly formed, Uummannaq nestles at the foot of a spectacular heart-shaped mountain. The splendid Jakobshavn Glacier near Ilulissat is the “birthplace” of around 10% of Greenland’s icebergs. The glittering splendour of Disko Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where mighty icebergs drift majestically through the water. Then to Sisimiut, Greenland’s second largest town is located 40 kilometres into the Arctic Circle.  At Kangerlussuaq Port we departed from a former US base that is now an international airport,
