Roller Scaly Ground (Geobiastes squamiger) endemic – Madagascar – Click for Notes

An artistic photo.  After searching the rainforest for many hours, this endemic Scaly Ground Roller made a very special sighting.  At one split second, the wind created a gap in the high canopy enabling a shaft of light, like a spotlight to fall on the head of this bird.  Using ‘spot metering’ it created the effect seen with just the head illuminated and the stunning body colouring fading to the darkness of the undergrowth that this bird favours.
