Sandpiper Spoon-billed (Eurynorhynchus pygmeus) non-breeding – Thailand

A rare opportunity to capture the diminutive Spoon-billed Sandpiper, the most recent report is that there are only 200 breeding pairs in existence.  Note the ‘spoon’ bill that is like a spatula.  The local farmer allowed me to walk between the ponds to capture this photo at some distance.
