Petrel White-chinned (Procellaria aequinoctialis) aberrant in flight – South Cape Point South Africa

I noticed that this a white ring around the petrel’s eye.  Trevor Hardaker (distinguished South Africa ornithologist) reported that what I saw was a White-chinned Petrel (Procellaria aequinoctialis) with a slight aberration. He has seen a few individuals over the years showing these white eye rings that are not described anywhere.  TH.

Perhaps future split? PWH
