Albatross Light Mantled (phoebetria palpebrata) adult nesting – South Georgia
Full SizeGrytviken Whaling Station is where Sir Ernest Shackelton is buried. We had a long hard walk over grasslands up to the cliffs in what seemed a Force 9 Gale, the wind easily bowled some of us over. I had to lie down to get this rare photo of the Light Mantled Albatross nesting. The wind almost blew my large lens and camera away yet the bird managed to nest which is quite amazing. What a challenging trip this was but worth the effort.
