Albatross Indian Yellow-nosed (Thalassarche carteri) gliding – Continental Shelf, South Africa
Full SizeBirdlife Africa Flock 2022 cruise on MS Orchestra 24-31st January 2022 with 1500 birders from around the world. Departed Cape Town for Prince Edward (S46o38’39” E37o44’37”)and Marion Island (S46o54’45” E37o44’37”), both South Africa territories. We disembarked at Durban.
First morning at sea, 25th January after leaving Cape Town; still in SA territorial waters. Fine day and warm; there was a deep sea fishing vessel in sight that increased the variety and volume of birds around us.
This view shows the wide spread of the 2 metre (6ft. 6inches) across the wing tips.
